At-Tirmidhi said: Mahmud ibn Ghaylan told us Othman ibn Umar told us about Abu Ja'far from Amara ibn Khuzaymah ibn Thabit from Othman ibn al-'Utbiyyah {that a blind man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: He said, “If you wish to be patient, it is better for you.” He said, “Pray for him.” He ordered him to perform ablution and pray this supplication: O Allah, I ask you and turn to you by your Prophet Muhammad, the Prophet of Mercy, O Muhammad, I turn to you to my Lord for this need of mine, so that it may be satisfied, O Allah, intercede for me.
Al-Bayhaqi also narrated it from the hadith of Shabib bin Saeed Al-Habti from Ruh bin Al-Qasim from Abu Jaafar Al-Madini - who is Al-Khatmi - from Abu Umamah Sahl bin Al-Utbiyyah
The narration of Shabib from Ruh from Abu Jaafar Al-Laithi differed from the narration of Shu’bah and Hammad bin Salamah in the chain of transmission and the text. In that one, it is narrated by Abu Jafar from Ammarah ibn Khuzaymah, and in this one, it is narrated by Abu Umamah Sahl, and in that narration, it is said: “So he interceded for me and interceded for me.” And in this one, he interceded for me. But this chain of transmission has another witness from the narration of Hisham al-Dastawa’i from Abu Ja`far.
Al-Nasa’i narrated it in the book (Amal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah) from this chain of transmission from the hadith of Mu’adh ibn Hisham from his father from Abu Ja’far from Abu Umamah ibn Sahl ibn al-’Utbiyyah from his uncle Uthman ibn al-’Utbiyyah
Abu Ahmad bin Adi said in his book called (Al-Kamil fi Asma’ al-Rijal)
